A BRIEF HISTORY OF GRCAM

I created (GRCAM) the Grass Roots Community Activist Movement back in November 1991 on a site called Gopher because I was dissatisfied with all of the division taking place among black people I wanted to start a new movement in Black America and throughout the African Diaspora in order to connect with other like minded Progressive African Americans, African Immigrants, Afro-Brazilians, Afro-Caribbean. As well as Non-black sympathizers, all Christian denominations, moderate Muslims and secular people who are interested in solving black issues starting in the city of Chicago.

My goal was to make GRCAM a digital platform to empower Black men & Black women who are having a unique experience in America. I also created GRCAM in order to help raise awareness about the genocide which is taking place within our inner cities in America, as well as for me to network with other like-minded individuals who share my concern to solve black issues at the local level one community one city at a time.

After 15 years of being rejected, humiliated and ignored by established black organizations in the city of Chicago I decided to write and publish my story (The Solution For Black America: Reclaiming, Rebuilding And Restoring The Urban Ghettos In America) second edition in hopes of attracting 30 black middle class professionals and others within the United States who meet the criteria that I am looking for which are as follows: Investors, Business Partners, Christian Entrepreneurs, Social Entrepreneurs and Philanthropist.

I am also looking for legitimate Film Producers, Actors, Stage Managers, Grant Writers/Fundraisers, Technical Directors, Marketers, Accountants, Business Administrators, Social Workers, Financial Planners, Lawyers, Real Estate Brokers and Insurance Agents.

I have my articles of incorporation and my bylaws typed and available for my Nonprofit Cooperative. I also have my articles of organization typed and available for my For Profit Service Based Business. Yet still to this day I don’t have anyone on my management team.

I will not start my business until I have my management team in place then I will start my Christian business (GRCAI) the Grass Roots Community Activist Institute of Chicago. I am just one black man with a plan and a vision it takes a team to make a dream work. GRCAM is a global community of thinkers and builders I need your help to move GRCAM from behind a computer into our urban communities that need our talent and skills. I believe this act of human collaboration across an open platform is essential to the low income African American community and our collective future. My upcoming film (Hood Liberator Made In Chicago) is my last attempt to try to do something positive for my racial group in America.

My goal is to form an organization that unites black middle class professionals and provide a forum for community advocacy, and connect with talented black artist both Christians and Secular. We are a rich and gifted community and we deserve to be represented. We deserve to have a voice.

The Grass Roots Community Activist Movement is a virtual Christian socialist organization. Our focus is on meeting the social need of the community and families that want to utilize our programs and services through the arts. We will help develop our students untapped potential gifts and talents. We will offer entrepreneur workshops and performing arts in the area of dance, music, short films, live theater, carnivals and festivals for local residents. In addition, we will offer year round after-school programs for children and youths.

GRCAM will provide a structured, loving and fun environment for children. We will provide the tools for our students to become career-driven individuals, obtain academic achievement and contribute back to society. We just want to make a difference in our urban communities. As soon as I have a diverse team of experienced full and part-time staff and volunteers on my team then I will turn GRCAM into a real business GRCAI the Grass Roots Community Activist Institute of Chicago and we will become incorporated and recognized as an official Faith-based nonprofit organization. For me it’s about making an impact in the lives of young people and their families and leaving behind a powerful legacy. All of this is to say, we are here, we are strong, and we have a voice.
