(GRCAM Talent Search 2019)
The Grass Roots Community Activist Movement is a 21st century community building approach to solving black issues in Black America and throughout the African Diaspora. With the training I received from Chicago Film Makers I am ready to take the lead in the African American community by offering new ideas, a new approach with specific methods starting in the city of Chicago through my Film Project (Hood Liberator Made In Chicago) the war against Willie Lynch begins. I am seeking talented Actors, Cinematographers, Directors and Storytellers who could deliver some of the best content the film industry has yet to see. Those who join my film project will go down in history with me and Sister Rena.
Mission
To eradicate urban violence in Chicago and beyond through our programs and services.
To strengthen the black family while meeting the social needs in the Black Community.
To prepare our students for college and careers, by providing them with a world-class arts education and rigorous core curriculum that foster creativity, innovation, critical thinking, and problem-solving.
Vision
To change students’ life-trajectories and develop the next generation of innovators, leaders, and problem-solvers by tapping into their natural talents and preparing them for post-secondary experiences.
The proceeds from my film will go towards starting my Christian business (GRCAI) the Grass Roots Community Activist Institute of Chicago. GRCAI will be a nonprofit Christian socialist organization dedicated to providing quality programs, community services, office rental space, and resources to independent filmmakers, performing artists, and black entrepreneurs.
I’m so excited to finally turn my virtual Christian socialist organization into a real Christian business after 27 years of being ignored by established black organizations who are being funded by the financial elites. Those are the persons responsible for causing these social conditions in our urban community. GRCAI will be a great community institution and a world-class black business on both the West Side and South Side of Chicago.
Dance:
Our students will learn the performance art form consisting of purposefully selected sequences of human movement. This movement has aesthetic and symbolic value in the form of Ballet, Tap, Hip Hop, Modern, African, Jazz, Latin, Swing and many more.
Digital Media:
Our students will learn how to effectively create, distribute and modify web content. This includes digital imagery, digital video, video games, web pages and websites.
Music:
Our students will learn the art form and cultural activity whose medium is sound and silence. The common elements of music are pitch (which governs melody and harmony), rhythm (and its associated concepts tempo, meter, and articulation), dynamics (loudness and softness), and the sonic qualities of timbre and texture (which are sometimes termed the “color” of a musical sound). Different styles or types of music may emphasize, de-emphasize or omit some of these elements. Music is performed with a vast range of instruments and with vocal techniques ranging from singing to rapping, and there are solely instrumental pieces, solely vocal pieces and pieces that combine vocal and instruments.
Theatre:
Our students will learn the collaborative form of fine arts that use live performers to present the experience of a real or imagined events before a live audience. The performers may communicate this experience to the audience through combinations of gesture, speech, song, music or dance.
Visual Arts:
Our students will learn art forms such as painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics, design, photography, printmaking, crafts, photography, video, filmmaking and architecture. Artistic disciplines such as performing arts, conceptual art and textile arts involve aspects of the visual arts as well as arts of other types. Applied arts such as graphic design, fashion design, industrial design, interior design and decorative art are also included.
The Grass Roots Community Activist Institute of Chicago will focus on strengthening the black family while meeting the social needs of the community as well as focus on getting our message out to the public through our programs and services. We will offer arts, technology labs, and employment training center. GRCAI will incorporate key themes from my revised book such as a technology hub for the Black Community, using fine arts to give young people a voice. We will hold bi monthly community meetings with our members from the community. I’ll be looking for teachers who are committed to rigor, taking our students to the next level and improving the current social conditions in our urban community one neighborhood one city at a time.
GRCAI will be membership based and everyone will be screen and must attend our mandatory orientation and sign the community pledge no exceptions. No harden criminals, No active gang members, No urban terrorist, No pedofiles, and no half steppers allowed in my organization this is how I get down. This is my contribution back to my community, society and throughout the African Diaspora.
