We are excited about our upcoming urban Christian film (Hood Liberator Made In Chicago: The War Against Willie Lynch Begins). Director and Producer Mr. Emmanuel Barbee is the founder and president of the Grass Roots Community Activist Institute.
Synopsis:
In this hybrid documentary, This story is about Emmanuel Barbee experience growing up in the inner cities of Chicago, and his vision to improve the inner cities of Chicago. The most important message in this film is his virtual Christian socialist organization the Grass Roots Community Activist Movement which represents a 21st century approach in community building in the African American community. GRCAM represents the new Black Voices of media. Emmanuel objective is to rebuild Black Wall Street in the inner cities of Chicago and make Chicago a model for other cities in America.
While doing street ministry on the Westside of Chicago Emmanuel encountered people from the Black Conscious community, Hebrew Israelites, Moors of America and Nuwaubians. As well as homeless youth and poor families on the streets. He developed an interest in young people and their struggle to grow into responsible, productive members of society. His focus is on helping street youth and broken families. Improve the circumstances for those who are suffering from drug addiction and urban violence. He believes that every child deserves a future, every family deserves to stay together and every community deserves to thrive. His mission is to give at-risk children the love, support and education they need to succeed. He believes that when we invest in a child, the positive effects ripple through the community, making the black community better, healthier, safer and stronger.
His faith based community outreach organization is to unite like minded Progressive African Americans, African Immigrants, Afro-Brazilians, Afro-Canadians, Afro-Caribbeans and Afro-Europeans to help rebuild the black ghettos. In addition, Emmanuel reaches out to all Christians, Moderate Muslims and Secular People who are interested in solving black issues once and for all in America. This film depicts urban communities in America where people are deprived of luxuries, and in constant struggle to survive. The burden of his struggle falls on Emmanuel shoulders as he tries to protect his elderly mother in a hostile environment. His family lives in the midst of violence wrought by local drug gangs, who control the neighborhood. Children living in those communities have a bleak future attending a failing school system and trying to survive on a daily basis to adulthood. Emmanuel does his best to get others within and beyond his community to work with him in starting a new movement in Black America which he believes will bring about real change from the bottom up.
The Grass Roots Community Activist Institute mission is to eradicate urban violence in Chicago through our programs and services. Our goal is to provide an infrastructure for aspirating Artist by creating quality films, music videos, stage plays and offering networking opportunities for Black Entrepreneurs in order to make our community better, healthier and safer. This is my last attempt to try to do something positive for my racial group in America. I am asking all of my Christian friends worldwide to pray that the IRS will approve my nonprofit cooperative as a legitimate 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization so that I can get my story on the Big Screen in Jesus/Yeshua name.
Once I receive a letter of approval then I can open up a business account at my bank and begin soliciting Angel Investors and Sponsors to invest $400,000 into my film project. The funds will go towards me hiring professional film crew and quality actors. The proceeds from my film and book sell will go towards me hiring Middle Class Black Professionals who will assist me with my Black Christian Business (GRCAI) the Grass Roots Community Activist Institute of Chicago.
The Grass Roots Community Activist Institute seeks to sustain a sense of national urgency about the senseless violence taken place within our inner cities in America. We will achieve this through journalism, our films, stage plays, community advocacy and through our media outlets and public forums.
