About GRCAM
Emmanuel Barbee created (GRCAM) the Grass Roots Community Activist Movement back in November 1991 on a site called Gopher because he was dissatisfied with all of the division taking place among black people he wanted to start a new movement in Black America and throughout the African Diaspora in order to connect with other like minded Millennials, Progressive African Americans, African Immigrants, Afro-Brazilians, Afro-Caribbean. As well as Non-black sympathizers, all Christian denominations, moderate Muslims and secular people who are interested in solving black issues in America.
The Grass Roots Community Activist Movement is a 21st century community building approach to solving social problems within the black community. GRCAM is a virtual Christian socialist organization. For me Christian socialism is an authentic form of Christianity. A Christian socialist is a form of socialism based on the teachings of Jesus. Many Christian socialists believe that capitalism is idolatrous and rooted in greed, social inequality, and institutionalized racism which most Christian denominations consider a mortal sin. We will focus on what we stand for: love, compassion, social justice, and liberation theology.
GRCAM is a multi-purpose we will strive to serve the less fortunate in our community by meeting the social needs and raising up a generation of new leaders. Emmanuel Barbee intent on traveling across the United States encouraging community leaders to embrace his vision on improving our inner cities in America and he also plans on expanding his vision on the African continent and inspiring others to join his vision.
After 15 years of being rejected, humiliated and ignored by established black organizations in the city of Chicago Emmanuel decided to write and publish his story (The Solution For Black America: Reclaiming, Rebuilding And Restoring The Urban Ghettos In America) second edition in hopes of attracting 30 black middle class professionals and others within the United States to join his management team. Emmanuel has his articles of incorporation and his bylaws typed and available for his Nonprofit Cooperative. He also has his articles of organization typed and available for his For Profit Service Based Business.
Under the Nonprofit Cooperative: GRCAI will be governed by an Advisory Board. GRCAI will be membership based and operated for the mutual benefit of our members. Also, any earnings we make are returned to our members in the forms of lower prices through our quality programs and services. Our members come first and we will be committed to providing trusted and understandable information.
Under the For Profit Service Based Business: we will offer state-of-the-art recreational center that will offer bowling, high ropes adventure courses, captivating game rooms featuring the latest video and amusement, stylish billiards, energetic dance rooms and high-quality restaurants, various businesses, onsite childcare and an onsite music recording studio for our students making documentary films and stage plays. In addition, we will host family fun activities including combination deals, birthday parties, weddings and corporate parties/events.
Once Emmanuel generate enough capital from his film project and his revised book then he will hire qualified people to join his team and start his real Christian business (GRCAI) the Grass Roots Community Activist Institute of Chicago. GRCAI will operate under 5 separate functions within the business. 1. A social service component, 2. A Spiritual component (optional for secular people) 3. A Political component, 4. An Entertainment component and 5. An Entrepreneur component.
GRCAI will emphasize the importance of morals and character development for both Christians and Secular People. We will also focus on strengthening the black family and focus on solving black issues by promoting a black economic agenda.
To promote economic opportunities for the black community by being an advocate for our members.
GRCAI will be committed to promote Black Entrepreneurship and staging innovative visual arts in the form of films, documentaries, stage plays, paintings and music videos for children and families. We aspire to create art that is relevant to our diverse culture throughout the African diaspora. GRCAI will strive to make an indelible mark on the Chicago theatre scene as well as invaluable contribution to the African American community throughout the MidWest.
GRCAI aim to move beyond a computer screen and make it’s presence known in underserved black communities by connecting both gospel artists and secular artists on stage from Comedy, music, film, dance and more! Emmanuel just one black man with a plan and a vision it takes a team to make a dream work. The Grass Roots Community Activist Movement is a global community of thinkers and builders We need your help to move GRCAM from behind a computer into our urban communities that need our talent and skills. I believe this act of human collaboration across an open platform is essential to the low income African American community and our collective future.
Everyone will be screen and must attend our mandatory orientation and sign the community pledge no exceptions. No harden criminals, No active gang members, No urban terrorist, No pedofiles, and no half steppers allowed in my organization this is how I get down. This is my contribution back to my community, society and throughout the African Diaspora.
