For centuries systemic racism, injustice and exclusion for Black People has been the norm in the United States. Emmanuel Barbee was tired of all of the division among Black People he wanted to start a new movement for Black People he created (GRCAM) the Grass Roots Community Activist Movement in 1991 on a site called Gopher. He wanted to help raise awareness about the genocide which is taking place within our inner cities in America starting in Chicago. He also wanted to connect with other like-minded African Americans, Afro-Brazilians, Afro-Canadians, Afro-Caribbeans, Afro-Europeans, African Immigrants, Afro-Latinos and Native Africans from around the globe to empower Black People worldwide.

His goal was to turn his virtual Christian socialist organization into a real Black Christian business known as (GRCAI) the Grass Roots Community Activist Institute. It will have a Nonprofit Cooperative sector and a For Profit Service Based sector. GRCAI will operate under five components:

1.Social Service component

2.Spiritual component which will be optional for secular people

3.Entertainment component

4.Entrepreneur component

5.Political component

In time a Health & Wellness component and a Media component.

Emmanuel Barbee also plan on using his social groups to turn them into an online business where customers can purchase everything they want and by legitimate Black owned businesses. Sellers could register to sell their products to a diverse, open, and international market. Emmanuel will also have that physical building in the city of Chicago.

We now have the opportunity to support Black entrepreneurs and create a more equitable playing field for future generations of Black businesses thanks to the internet. GRCAI is about solving black issues while empowering small businesses into maximized economic development, encourage black entrepreneurs to expand their enterprises and to emphasize excellence throughout our community & world.

Under the For Profit Service Based sector: we will offer state-of-the-art recreational center that will offer bowling, high ropes adventure courses, captivating game rooms featuring the latest video and amusement, stylish billiards, energetic dance rooms and high-quality restaurants, various businesses, onsite childcare and an onsite music recording studio for our students making documentary films and stage plays. In addition, we will host family fun activities including combination deals, birthday parties, weddings and corporate parties/events. Host live events and also own our own travel company that creates memories for a lifetime. We will make and sell T- Shirts, Invitations, business & Post Cards, an all in one commerce interactive space to start, run, and grow a business.

The Grass Roots Community Activist Institute will be a commerce platform that allows our members to use our website to sell their products and services to a global market. Our objective is to empower black small business owners from different countries to compete.

GRCAI will offer professional online storefront, a payment solution to accept credit cards. GRCAM groups/community spaces are intended to spark conversation. We want you to be able to connect with us, other merchants and black entrepreneurs. In these spaces, everyone should feel comfortable, safe and respected. We have a few simple community guidelines.

Any violation may result in removal from the space. We reserve the right to remove a post at any time for any reason we deem appropriate. We may update these rules from time to time.

Under the Nonprofit Cooperative: GRCAI will be governed by an Advisory Board. GRCAI will be membership based and operated for the mutual benefit of our members. Also, any earnings we make are returned to our members in the forms of lower prices through our quality programs and services. Our focus is on providing quality goods and services to the low income African American community and working directly with black families that want to utilize our services. Finally, I wrote my book in order to generate capital/seed money so that I can hire thirty Black Middle Class Professionals within the United States to assist me with the daily operation of my business. I want to make Chicago a model first before we expand to 10 other cities in America.

The Grass Roots Community Activist Institute objective is to become the heart of the Black Community on Westside of Chicago specifically in Austin, Garfield Park and North Lawndale. GRCAI also plans on expanding to the Southside of Chicago and send scouts to help replicate the business in order to make Chicago a model for other cities in America. GRCAI will function in the areas of community co-op, community grocery stores, community healthcare and community housing. GRCAI will operate on two fronts a domestic front and on an international front.

On a domestic front within the United States:

To create a sense of national urgency about the genocide which is taken place within our inner cities in America starting in Chicago. We will push for social change through our stories using media and advocacy. We will achieve this through our films, stage plays, journalism to change the narrative. We will strive to educate and enlarge our audience of concern citizens who care about solving black issues in America.

To eradicate urban violence in Chicago through our programs and services.

To tackle poverty, institutionalized racism and police brutality within the Black Community.

To promote economic opportunities in the African American community by becoming an advocate and resource for our members.

To offer a second chance program for ex-offenders of non-violent crimes, former gang members and homeless individuals within the community.

To provide programs and services to strengthen the black family by creating jobs and building a strong economic base.

To heal collectively from this Willie Lynch mentality in America and on the African continent heal from this colonized mentality.

To examine the Amish community, the Asian community and the Jewish community. So that we can practice group economics and form our own code of conduct.

To get our house in order first before we invite none black sympathizers into our space.

On an international front:

(GRCAI of Africa) the Grass Roots Community Activist Institute of Africa plan on hiring African immigrants in America to encourage the Diaspora to set up a chapter in South Africa and eventually in 9 other African Nations Liberia, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Angola, Nigeria, Kenya, Ethiopia, Tanzania and Uganda.

I am encouraging my international friends to put pressure on African governments to allow the Diaspora to have citizenship within 5 years if they are serious about us doing business on the African continent.

GRCAI of Africa will go through the proper channels with the African government to start our (NGO) Non-government organization. We are determined to work with our disadvantaged brothers and sisters in the society to improve and enhance the capacity for self-development.

To promote GRCAI of Africa to the African people

To fight against corruption To nurture young Africans by conducting mentorship programs and various youth activities across Africa

To promote education through establishing learning centers, book donations, publications to needy young people to enable them to achieve their academic goals.

To promote health among the people living in rural and low-income urban areas by organizing for medical camps and health awareness campaigns.

To participate in various economic activities geared towards improving the standards of living among the people in low-income rural and urban centers.

GRCAI of Africa will offer private employment to our members based on our budget and sponsorship. We will provide infrastructure for building bridges, roads, power lines, clean running water, agricultural technology, solar and wind energy to help our members with their electrical generators and most of all help improve the African economy as well as educate the people about the problems with Capitalism. In time, we will expand to Brazil and specific places in the Caribbean such as Barbados, Bahamas, Haiti and Jamaica.

The only thing which is preventing me from turning my virtual Christian socialist organization into a real Black Christian Business is the lack of manpower and the capital this is why I turned to social media to get my message out to the public through my Youtube videos, my Social Groups, my Blog Postings, my online talkshow, my revised book (The Solution For Black America) second edition and now through my upcoming urban Christian film (Hood Liberator Made In Chicago: The War Against Willie Lynch Begins). This is my last attempt to try to do something positive for my racial group in America.

It’s not my burden alone but rather a shared burden for I am just one black man with a vision and a plan, it takes a team to make a dream work. GRCAM is a global community of thinkers and builders I need your help to move GRCAM from behind a computer into our urban communities that need our talent and skills. The Grass Roots Community Activist Institute will be membership based. Everyone will be screen and must attend our mandatory orientation and sign the community pledge no exceptions. No harden criminals, No active gang members, No urban terrorist, No pedofiles, and no half steppers allowed in my organization this is how I get down. This is my contribution back to my community, society and throughout the African Diaspora.
