(Black America In Crisis Yet Again)

On February 23, 2020, Ahmaud Arbery, was an unarmed 25 year old African-American man, was fatally shot near Brunswick in Glynn County, Georgia, while jogging on Holmes Road just before entering its intersection with Satilla Drive in the Satilla Shores neighborhood. Arbery had been pursued and confronted by two white residents, Travis McMichael and his father Gregory, who were armed and driving a pickup truck. The event was recorded on video by a third Satilla Shores resident, William “Roddie” Bryan, who was following Arbery in a second vehicle.

The Glynn County Police Department (GCPD) said the Brunswick District Attorney’s Office advised them on February 23 to make no arrests, while the Brunswick District Attorney’s Office denied that such advice was given to the GCPD by either the Brunswick District Attorney or her Assistant District Attorneys. On February 24, Waycross Judicial Circuit District Attorney George Barnhill, who had not yet been assigned to the case, advised the GCPD that no arrests should be made. Barnhill officially took over the case on February 27. Later on April 2, Barnhill again advised the GCPD to make no arrests, while announcing his intention to recuse from the case due to connections between Gregory McMichael and Barnhill’s son. Barnhill requested recusal on April 7. Atlantic Judicial Circuit District Attorney Tom Durden was appointed to the case on April 13.

At the behest of Gregory McMichael, a local attorney provided a copy of the video of the shooting to WGIG, a local radio station, who put it on the station’s website on May 5. The video went viral, having also been posted on YouTube and Twitter. Within hours, Durden said a grand jury would decide whether charges would be brought, and accepted an offer from Governor Brian Kemp to have the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) investigate the case. On May 7, the GBI arrested the McMichaels and charged them with felony murder and aggravated assault. On May 21, Bryan was arrested and charged with felony murder and attempted false imprisonment. The fact that the McMichaels were not arrested until 74 days later, after the video went viral, sparked debates on racial profiling in America.

On March 13, 2020, Breonna Taylor, a 26-year-old African American woman, was fatally shot by Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) officers Jonathan Mattingly, Brett Hankison and Myles Cosgrove who entered her apartment in Louisville, Kentucky, while serving a “no-knock warrant”. Taylor was shot eight times. The investigation by the LMPD was centered on two individuals suspected of selling controlled substances from a drug house more than 10 miles away, but the search warrant included Breonna Taylor’s residence, which had been suspected of receiving drugs in the case.

According to the wrongful death lawsuit filed against the police, “the officers then entered Breonna’s home without knocking and without announcing themselves as police officers. The officers then proceeded to spray gunfire into the residence with a total disregard for the value of human life.” According to police, Taylor’s boyfriend Kenneth Walker fired first, injuring a law enforcement officer, and police returned fire.

On May 25, 2020 the death of George Floyd, an African American man, occurred in Minneapolis. Derek Chauvin, a white Minneapolis police officer, knelt on Floyd’s neck for 8 minutes and 46 seconds which occurred after Floyd became unresponsive, according to the criminal complaint filed against Chauvin. Floyd was handcuffed and lying face down on the road, while Chauvin had his knee on his neck. The three other arresting officers were identified as Thomas K. Lane, Tou Thao, and J. Alexander Kueng. Officer Kueng held Floyd’s back while Lane held his legs, and Thao stood nearby and looked on. The four officers were fired the next day.

The incident occurred during Floyd’s arrest in Powderhorn, a neighborhood south of downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota, and was recorded on the smartphones of bystanders. The arrest was made after Floyd allegedly attempted to use a $20 bill in a deli, which an employee identified as counterfeit. Police stated that Floyd “physically resisted” after being ordered to exit his vehicle before the video was filmed. Surveillance footage from a nearby restaurant, however, contradicts this claim, with Floyd shown falling twice while being escorted by the officers. Video recording by a witness, showing the arrested Floyd repeatedly saying “I can’t breathe”, was widely circulated on social media platforms and broadcast by main stream media.

These police incidents will continue to happen as long as we live in the United States of America. The solution is for us to move the Grass Roots Community Activist Movement from behind a computer starting in Chicago. Unify with African Immigrants in America and reclaim our ancestral home land (Africa). The definition of insanity is to continue doing the same thing and expecting a different result. Black People have been marching and protesting for 52 years and still nothing has come out of it why not embrace new ideas? Democrats have created sanctuary cities for Illegal immigrants we have been faithful to that political party where is our sanctuary cities? We have an option to continue being treated as third and forth class citizen or think beyond America. If you don’t have an African plan you’re doing yourself and your family a disservice. If you’re black and you refuse to help build up our homebase (Africa) then your not black. As long as we continue to live in America our tax dollars will finance a society which hire Rogue Cops on the force to continue to abuse us. Do you want your children to be expose to Rogue Cops who takes pleasure in killing blacks? When Rogue Cops can kill you on video and there’s no consequences because they know they will be acquitted. For example, in the Eric Garner case the officer Daniel Pantaleo was on video using an illegal choke hold which lead to the death of Eric Garner. Our black leaders such as the Congressional Black Caucus have sold us out they are fighting for all other groups except for blacks.

The Coronavirus have exposed the United States incompetence and unpreparedness. America is on the break of an economic collapse. Income inequality is on the rise and America has become an import dependent economy due to outsourcing it’s manufacturing companies overseas. This American experiment is about to come to an end. Under the Grass Roots Community Activist Institute our people will never allow ourselves to become subjectgated again. There will continue to be black people who feel comfortable about the mistreatment of our people and will continue to make excuses to remain here in America. Those of you throughout the Diaspora who are serious about restoring Africa’s greatness then join us.
